Description of the excursion
We set out from the Esquel Valley, in the Ecotono area, to enter the steppe. We skirted the entire Hoya Mountain Range, passing along the side of the Trochita Trail, which leads us to the Leleque Museum, located 90 km from the city. The name refers to a shrub native to the region and comes from the Southern Tehuelche language. It is also a site of the last clashes between Tehuelches and nationalist troops, which took place in 1888. The museum, at Casamiquela's request, preserves the historical value of the Tehuelche people. Today, at the bar, you can still have a drink, as travelers did in times past, browse books, and purchase some southern handicrafts.
After seeing the Mapuche and Tehuelche culture, we descend again below sea level and arrive at the Cholila Valley. We will visit the cabin of the bandits Buch Cassidy & Sundance Kid, and continue towards the Bar "La Legal"., where we will find ancient elements and delight in a delicious snack.
