Description of the excursion

This experience combines trekking, culture, and gastronomy with identity. We will tour ancestral fields accompanied and guided by Mapuche-Tehuelche descendants who live in the Sierra Colorada and Rosario Lake areas, keeping their traditions alive. Lunch will be served at Ruka Küwu (House of Hands). There, depending on the season, Daniela will be waiting for us with a typical corn stew accompanied by homemade bread, water, wine, and dessert. After lunch, we will continue our tour to Rosario Lake, visiting the artisans' house (Amuan Ñi Rukamó), where you can experience weaving on a loom and purchase handmade products such as vests, scarves, socks, blankets, and more. We will hike a medium-difficulty trail through the area and its hills, accompanied by the community's on-site guides. We will hike 4 kilometers to Canoa Lagoon, where you can see various panoramic views. Another option is to take a longer 5-kilometer loop to Piedra de Ñanco, from where you can see various points of interest. An old house built entirely of adobe, the Piedra del Ñanco, and other panoramic points overlooking the Arroyo Grande. Your neighbor, Albarino Chequehuala, the only luthier in the area, opens the doors of his house to show us the typical Mapuche instruments, made by his own hands. The music accompanies us until snack time, where Doña Inés awaits us with traditional baked goods accompanied by homemade jam and native herbal tea. Throughout the experience, you will have the opportunity to exchange words of the Mapuche language. During the winter season, from June to October, the area is covered in snow, making the hikes slightly more difficult.
