Description of the excursion
Traveling on the Old Patagonian Express is a must-do for anyone visiting Esquel. This masterfully preserved steam train offers a round-trip service to Nahuelpan Station, named after the Mapuche Tehuelche community that houses it.
The steam locomotives are original from 1922, and the train travels along the hillsides surrounding Esquel until it reaches Boquete Nahuelpan. Once at the station, travelers have almost an hour to visit the Museum of Native Cultures and two fairs of crafts and regional products, while the train maneuvers for the return trip. The entire trip takes three hours.
Depending on the time of year, flight frequencies vary, reaching daily during peak season, so it is essential to reserve a spot in advance.
