Description of the excursion
Lake Baguilt is a unique site in the area, as it is a high-mountain lake. Located in a narrow valley, it is surrounded by steep rocky slopes, partially covered by pure forests of Lenga (a tree up to 35 m tall that can only be found in high places in the mountain range). The green forest contrasts with the colors of the water, which change depending on the position of the sun, from blue to turquoise to a soft green. It is a stunning landscape. Accessing the lake is an adventure in itself, as we must travel a few kilometers on a gravel road and then take a narrow, steep forest trail that requires a 4x4 vehicle. During this journey, we make stops at strategic locations, with views of the Esquel and Trevelin valleys, the Río Grande, and the Futaleufú Dam area. Finally, for those who want to experience authentic, unspoiled Patagonia, this is the opportunity. The silence of its forests, the pristine location, the purity of the water (which we always drink), and the near absence of people (often we're the ONLY ones at the lake all day) allow us to experience a sensation unlike anything we've experienced elsewhere. In short, Lake Baguilt Provincial Reserve is much more than just its landscapes.
